Taking A Step Back: Revisiting the Who, Where, What, & Why

I’m taking a step back here for a second. I recently went back and read my very first post (Day 1. Flight to New Orleans.). Although I painted the picture of where I came from and what I wanted to do, I don’t think I gave enough detail about it. There were some information that I left out that I think I need to answer, not only for myself, but for everyone who may potentially follow my story.

Who am I? I am just a kid, well a 26-year old kid, who thought he was going to be a lawyer when he grew up. But, the world works in mysterious ways. I fell down one day, face first into performing, and well…became infatuated. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything different for a career. I know there are a lot of “nay-sayers” and people who love to say “you can’t do that for your whole life.” But they are wrong. I am going to prove it.

Where am I going? As a natural progression in my career, although I was blind to it for the last couple years, I am going to try to get promoted. This promotion would be to work in television and the movies as a stuntman. It is the next step in my career, allowing me to better support my family and continue to be challenged.

What is my goal? Well, this is simple…I think. My goal is to work in television and movies at least 3 or 4 times a year. This would allow me to keep the stability of my full-time job at Disney, be with my family, and enjoy the benefits of this hopeful “promotion.”

Why am I blogging publicly? Why not write in a journal? This is an easy question, but there a bunch of answers. 1) I am terrible with verbal communication. I have trouble holding social conversations for longer than a couple of sentences. However, when my fingers hit the keyboard, the conversation comes flying out. This is the best way to tell people what is going on with me. 2) I want everyone to know how interestingly complex the “stunt” industry is. Even as a performer and having friends that tell me what it’s like, I still couldn’t believe it until I tried. 3) I love writing…at least for the moment. And, if you enjoy something, why not pursue it?

I hope this accomplished what I wanted it to. I hope you now know where I came from, where I want to go, and why I’m telling you about it.

I look forward to continuing “My Chronicles as a Stuntman,” with a little extra flavor (because I love to write) thrown in from time to time!

  1. NO. WAY. You’re so inspiring, especially for a young individual going into his second year of University! You work for Disney currently!? That’s my entire dream – I want to end up working for them somehow, particularly in animation, but currently I’m following an engineering pathway. I’ll figure it out though! I’m so excited to read more from you!

    1. Thank you raisingcayne! I do work for Disney and it is awesome. I love going to work everyday. There is something magical about working at a place where everyone is so focused on pleasing the customer! They have a college program at Disney you might want to look at. It might be a great segway into getting a job there! Oh and animation? that is awesome..I’m going to swing by and check out your blog! Thanks for stopping by!
