Make up test. 18 planned hours in a car…One Goal.

I think hustling is actually one big test. A test to see if you want it enough.

All I knew was that I had to show face with this coordinator and his team. I had to show them how much I wanted this! How much I wanted to be a part of this industry and to work right there with them. I missed the audition three weeks ago for this show because Mother Nature screwed me. Although very disappointing, I didn’t let it get in my way. And now, when I try to drive there three weeks later, it seems there is obstacle after obstacle trying to prevent me from getting there.

I left for Wilmington at 11:30 am, with a projected arrival of 8:00 pm. I didn’t manage to get into my hotel room until 11:00 pm! I hit non-stop traffic on a Sunday afternoon all the way through Georgia and South Carolina. Conveniently, Daytona’s bike week ended at the same time and thousands of bikers got on their bikes, or loaded them up on their trailers, and joined me on the road. I have never gone from 75 mph to a dead stop so many times on the same highway! At one point, I got pushed off the left lane all the way into the median at 75 mph because DUDE was preoccupied with something and merged right into me. Luckily, I avoided the car and got back on with my driving (Side note: I wonder if I can put that on my resume as “stunt driving” experience). Then, once I stopped at the first gas station to fill up, I found a screw lodged in my tire. Great! On top of this, my service engine light came on about three quarters of the way up. I spent the rest of the drive in semi-silence, a nervous wreck, waiting for 1) the air pressure light to return to let me know I had a flat or 2) my car to blow up from the service engine light. Thankfully, I made it all the way up there without either of those happening. I can now wait to figure out how to make it back to Orlando after I get on set tomorrow.

Hole in tire

Once I got to the hotel and checked in, I headed out for some reconnaissance. By the way the hotel was so bad that I took everything out of my car and put it in the hotel. You know…in the likely event my car was broken in to. But…that’s what you get for a $39 room, right? Anyway…I had three potential filming addresses. I figured I would roll by each of the addresses and look for trailers outside. This way when I got up in the morning, I would know exactly where to go. Guess what? After driving through all of the neighborhoods, absolutely no luck.  However, right before I went to bed, I checked the handy-dandy website that my friend gave me and BAM! Address for the filming acquired! At least one good thing happened to me today! And I have to say, after 100 bad things, 1 good thing makes it all soooo worth it!
